Hana’a Shalabi has passed five weeks of hunger-strike. She is a Palestinian young girl detained by the Israeli occupation according to the law of administrative detention.
The law of administrative detention is an Israeli heresy allowing the Israeli authority to arrest any Palestinian citizen and keep him/her in prison for six renewable months without charge or trial, and without giving any reasons for the detention.
The law of administrative detention is an Israeli-made law. It is not similar to any other law in the world. It is lawless and opposed to the principles of justice and human rights.
Hana’a Shalabi protested against her detention without revealing any reasons. So, she was forced to be on a hunger strike, claiming an immediate release because she refuses injustice and refuses to surrender to this injustice.
Had Hana’a Shalabi been a citizen from Tibet, the American Congress would have condemned the Chinese policy and called for freeing this wronged girl. Had Hana’a Shalabi been a Russian citizen on a hunger strike in protest of being detained by Butin’s regime, Susan Rice, the US representative in the Security Council would have called for freeing her immediately.
Had Hana’a Shalabi been a Chinese citizen, the EU parliament would have protested on the violations of human rights in China. Had Hana’a Shalabi been a North Korean citizen, she would have been granted a Noble Prize.
Hana’a Shalabi’s crime is in being a Palestinian, and each Palestinian is convicted until proven innocent.
Hana’a Shalabi’s crime is that she is in the prisons of Israel which is a rogue country, disobedient to the international law and supported by the United States.
Hana’a Shalabi’s crime is that she is struggling for her freedom and the freedom of her people, and because she is refusing to surrender to the directives and recommendations of the Quartet.
Her crime is that she is free. And because she is free, she enters her sixth week on a hunger-strike. Her stomach has suffered from disorders and experienced many ulcerations. Her intestines stopped their function and her life is now in danger. Her other organs slackened and they are about to stop.
A call for all the defenders of human rights:
Keeping Hana’a Shalabi in prison is a condemnation to whoever believes and defends freedom. We all have to do something to restore Hana’a Shalabi to life and freedom.
